TOP TEN MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCIES WHICH PROVIDE YOU BEST COMFORT AT WORK

The Top Ten

1. Bain & Company

For the second year running, Bain & Company is Vault.com’s pick for the top management consulting firm in the world. While not the largest and not the oldest firm, Bain is among the most prestigious global consulting firms because of the standards it set early in its existence. From the beginning, Bain chose innovative approaches, did not actively market themselves and often took no fees until they had proven themselves. Later, Bain aligned its incentives with client performance, sometimes taking equity in its clients’ companies instead of consulting fees. Having a stake in the client’s success was seen as an innovative business model.
Differentiating Bain from its major competitors are these kinds of innovative approaches as well as its pioneering position in private equity consulting and its specialization in M&A and organizational restructuring. To accomplish these kinds of aims, Bain hires consultants who have the ability to think conceptually and translate concepts into action. Flexibility is highly valued, as the opportunity for cross-training across industries is prevalent (even if at the expense of being able to specialize in a specific field.

2. McKinsey & Company

Touting its ability and drive to do things differently, McKinsey sits nearly atop the heap of the world’s top-ten management consulting firms. Despite its big-name recognition, McKinsey operates at a fairly low profile, perhaps due to its controversial practice of non-exclusivity with clients. Emphasizing ideas as the most important engine of McKinsey’s operations, McKinsey offers a good starting place for new consultants but does not appear to offer an environment conducive to collaboration and teamwork because consultants are bound to secrecy about their projects (due to the non-exclusivity/possible conflicts of interest issues).
Similarly, the firm employs an “up and out” policy, whereby consultants need to advance upward in their career or leave the firm within a specific amount of time. This ensures a built-in turn-over rate that renews the firm’s staff at regular intervals (which may contribute to the constant stream of new ideas on which McKinsey runs), but which may foster an environment of “horizontal stagnation”, that is, consultants may be “promoted” by adding additional duties to their existing job. Essentially, a heftier workload without progressive responsibility or upward momentum but also not an invitation to leave the company.

3. The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. (BCG)

BCG still made it to the top 10 strategy consulting firms. Beyond its prestigious name and reputation, BCG is behind many of the industry’s best-known concepts, such as the “experience curve” and “growth-share matrix”. With these principles as its backbone, BCG values conceptual thinking and reasoning and places emphasis on continued growth and learning for consultants. As a Big Four consultancy firm, BCG competes head-to-head with much larger firms with greater name recognition but differentiates itself by focusing on, for example, fields like branding and marketing (in addition to more traditional disciplines).
Based in Boston with a global reach, BCG is widely praised as a solid place to work, offering among the most competitive compensation packages for consultants.

4. Deloitte Consulting LLP

One of the “Big Four” accountancy firms and the second-largest professional services firms globally, Deloitte is well-respected and a massive name, major player in the management consultancy field. Its depth of expertise among its over 40,000 employees is virtually unparalleled. Focused primarily on human capital, strategy and operations and technology across multiple industries, Deloitte leads its competition in terms of aggregate revenue, growth and market share.
In short, Deloitte is a giant, and as such, can offer an expansive career trajectory to consultants, who will have the opportunity to take advantage of Deloitte’s global presence and its sheer size and scale. The downside is that an organization of this scope can be hampered by layers of bureaucracy and unneeded complexity that develop naturally when a firm reaches these proportions.

5. Monitor Group

Monitor Group has leapt into Vault.com’s top-ten firms this year. Its smaller size versus other, bigger firms against which Monitor competes head-on coupled with its global footprint makes it an agile and dynamic firm. A flexible consultant can join what is undoubtedly an innovative organization that is not saddled by too much legacy structure, in part because of its size and in part because it, like many firms, was affected by the economic crisis and has adapted to current economic conditions. Though based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Monitor Group has a presence in every corner of the world – again, much like larger, better-known consulting firms.
As Monitor Group places a premium on getting sustainable results for its international array of clients, having a presence in key locations is key to capitalizing on its expertise and information. The firm has been lauded for its pro bono service and for its collaborative, feedback-oriented, lessons-learned corporate culture, which is one of its strongest distinguishing factors. Monitor Group itself characterizes its placement in the Vault rankings as being due to “morale and momentum”.

6. A.T. Kearney

Headquartered in Chicago with more than 50 offices worldwide, A.T. Kearney has a storied history that is tied up in the history of one of the industry’s oldest and best-known consultancies, McKinsey, from which Kearney split off in the 1930s. In the early days, Kearney focused on manufacturing and operations, which has expanded across industries and practices. This history imbues Kearney with a sense of long-standing tradition and culture, which has been cited as a bonus in terms of being a good place to start out as a management consultant.
History could also be seen as a handicap in terms of innovation. Like most large consultancy firms, Kearney has broad cross-functional, cross-industry focus areas in which consultants can expect to work. Its distinguishing offering is The Global Business Policy Council, which Kearney created as a strategic service designed to cater to the world’s top CEOs and business-minded thought leaders. The Council brings together leaders from the corporate, government and academic disciplines to foster discussion about issues relating to all these groups, such as globalization, foreign direct investment and offshoring. Kearney offers three separate strategic services to these leaders as a part of this council.

7. Oliver Wyman

Based in New York with 55 international office locations, Oliver Wyman operates across industries all over the globe. Oliver Wyman is part of a larger group of professional services companies, which contributes to its cross-functional, multinational presence. This network of affiliated companies deepens the pool from which expertise is drawn, which adds value to the consulting services offered by the Oliver Wyman Group. Known as a firm that values ideas and creativity, this is a place where driven, hungry, internationally-minded consultants will thrive, as they will be expected to travel extensively and put in a lot of extra time.

8. The Cambridge Group

More than anything else, The Cambridge Group aims to help clients attain higher growth rates and profit margins. In large measure, the big factor that differentiates Cambridge from other consultancy firms, particularly those that specialize in economic services, is its insistence that demand supersedes supply in terms of importance. This drives the firm’s focus on identifying profitable demand opportunities and optimizing processes and pricing. The Cambridge Group claims to provide its clients actionable insight and growth blueprints as opposed to more general plans and recommendations. Its size and scope make this attention to detail possible. As a small, Chicago-based firm with just two offices, the firm is small enough in scale that a consultant can expect to work hands-on with analysis and growth strategy from the get-go while being on-board as the firm itself grows.

9. Analysis Group, Inc.

Headquartered in Boston with ten offices in the United States and Canada, Analysis Group is highly regarded for its commitment to delivering economic and financial analysis and strategy across sectors. Employing these specialties, Analysis Group, as a place to work, is reportedly collegial and has a small-firm feel in what is actually a much larger company. Unlike larger, global firms, the primary focus on economic and financial consulting creates room for specialization and carves out a solid reputation in its areas of expertise. Given this emphasis at the Analysis Group, potential consultants with strong analytical and academic skills have an edge.

10. Booz & Company

Widely touted as a great place to get started with a career in management consulting, Booz is a company whose global presence, wide areas of expertise and emphasis on wholesale organizational change (“discontinuities”) will ensure that a new or mid-career consultant never sees a shortage of opportunity. The firm pushes its consultants to learn and contribute and demands a lot (a heavy workload) but supports its hires with its team-oriented structure, training and intelligent staff and subject-matter experts from whom to seek advice.
On the prestige front, Booz is recognized, respected and highly visible with its focus on an exceptionally vast landscape of fields. The firm’s big name will be a draw, as will the chance to work across industries in a global environment. Detractors state that the firm suffers from some internal inertia following the spin-off of one of Booz’s former core businesses – government consulting. The firm still enjoys legacy prestige, despite distancing itself from its biggest differentiator, and has moved more firmly into specializing in business-transition consultancy (the aforementioned discontinuities, when a business moves from one major focus to another)

CAREER SUCCESSION PLANNING A SPECIAL FOCUS ON HUMAN RESOURCE

WHY ESSENTIALS:----KEY FACTS
Essentially, succession planning is a conscious decision by an organization to foster and
promote the continual development of employees, and ensure that key positions maintain
some measure of stability, thus enabling an organization to achieve business objectives.
Traditionally, succession planning has sometimes taken a replacement approach, often
focusing on executive-level positions. One or two successors might be identified and
selected, probably based on the exclusive input of their immediate supervisor, and then
placed on the fast-track into a senior position. However, succession planning has evolved
into a process that can be used to:
1. Replenish an organization’s HR at a broad or specific level;
2. Identify, assess and develop employee knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the
current and future staffing needs of the organization; and
3. Ensure a continuous supply of talent by helping employees develop their potential,
as successors for key departmental positions.

HOW CAREER SUCCESSION PLANNING WORKS:
Workforce Planning
Review Business Goals and
Objectives
Conduct Environmental Scan
Conduct Gap Analysis of
Workforce
Set HR Priorities and Develop
Strategies
Implement and Evaluate Strategies
Succession Planning

Identify Key Positions or Key
Groups
Plan Learning and Development
Identify Competencies for
Positions / Groups
Identify and Assess Potential
Candidates

Effectiveness

AT last i like to mention most of the organizations have their career succession planning like ICICI , HDFC in India and in USA
like Mckinsey , Bain in corp , Boston groups and others.........

7 WAYS TO REMOVE STRESS AT WORK

SEVEN STEPTS WILL OBIVIOUSLY TAKE AWAY STRESS FROM THE WORK AND GIVE MORE PERFORMANCE IN THE WORK .....TRY IT AND GET AN EFFECTIVE RESULT
1. Self-Introspection
Many of us are victims of a stressful work environment. However, when it becomes to dealing with it, most of us do nothing but freak out and end up making the situation even worse.

"At these times, pep talk with yourself can come to your rescue to maintain the calm and handle whatever is thrown at you. No matter what is going inside you, the best quality of a leader is to maintain the outer composure," says Deepak Kaistha, managing partner, Planman Consulting.

2. Enrich your life

If work and the workplace have become the all encompassing phenomena of your life, change it. Enrich your life with good time for yourself, your family, and other endeavours that truly interest you.

"Having that distance and focusing off your job actually work in its favour. Circumstances that were great stressors for you earlier may start seeming less important and bothersome from a bigger perspective," informs Ashish Arora, founder & MD, HR Anexi.

3. Create a network of allies

Build relationships in the organization outside of your immediate work circle. Even when things are going relatively smoothly, reach out to others and share your work and plans with them. Then, during times of crisis, you will be able to fall back upon this ally bank for guidance and support.

4. Prioritize your responsibilities

No matter what your role or the time of the year is, not everything can be as important. Assess what is critical and feasible from the point of view of your plans and resources, and maintain a confident focus on them. Say 'no' to tasks beyond your current priorities and explain why.

5. Maintain a strong track record of success

Despite the current stress, do your best to succeed in your assigned tasks. Build and maintain a strong track record of success. Even if the underlying stress is responsible for it, failure will only add to your stress. Break out of this vicious circle even before it forms, and do not let anything compromise the quality of your work.

6. Delegate certain tasks
Delegate what others can do as good as or even better than you. Delegating not only reduces your work clutter, so that you can now go on to focus on more important things, but also improves others' perception of you as a leader or manager.

"The biggest advantage of working in the corporate world is the ability to work in a team. A great team player shares the concerns and deadlines with the team and also delegates the responsibilities. This not only takes off the burden, but ensures a better result and hence enhanced productivity. Hence stop taking all the load yourself. Share the load and the recognition," advises Alok Bansal, Founder CEO, Alethia Education Services.

7. Try to break out the vicious circle:---- even if the stress has increased try to keep youself free from it by the way of back up plan , as well as long breath take it and de cluttering your work and at last delegate your task to others. In this way stress could be able to minimized and removed the stress.

ZUBEEN GARG THE MUSICAL SENSATION AND A PERSON WITH FLAMING PERSONALITY BACK TO THE MUMBAI

Zubeen Garg's latest album pakeeza is a hit. The singing sensation from Assam talks about the work that went into making Pakeeza, his love for the Northeast and why he keeps coming back to his people.
Your latest album Pakeeza comes after a long hiatus. Why this break?
Yes, my last album came out in 2006. That is because I don't like to rush things. This one is a solo album. I took utmost care with it. For me, this album was a process in experimentation with different kinds of elements such as elements of Assamese music, Sufi, folk and tribal elements etc.

There's a music video to accompany the title track...
Yes, the music video was hard work. I got the model who features in the video, Danisha, from Slovakia. It has been shot in Tawang, which is one of the most wonderful places I have been to. Also, I have used a lot of special effects in the music video.

Why did you chose Tawang?
Mostly because I love that place. Many people have asked me if the video has been shot in Switzerland. I answered them with a, "Yes. But not the one you know of. We have another Switzerland up there in the North East called Tawang." Plus, we have such beautiful places right in our own country. I wanted to draw focus to at least one of them.Hather kachhe eto sundor spot thakte bideshe jawar ki dorkar?

Tell us, how has been the reaction to Pakeeza? Well, as far as I can see, it has been received pretty well. Congratulations have been pouring in. Actually, there has not been a good solo in the market for a long time. I wanted to fill that gap up. By the reaction I have received, I can say that I have been able to do that. Also, there are two more videos coming up accompanying the songs Rama rama and Kehkasha.

Two more videos? How about spilling the details?
(With a laugh) Rama rama is essentially a club song which has been picturized on children. And the other one is the video accompanying Kahakasha. It is the most commercial number of the album.

How do you compare your national presence to the popularity you enjoy in the Northeast?
There is absolutely no comparison at all. Northeast has been the base for my career for as long as I can remember. I have sung around fifteen thousand songs in different dialects of this region, spanning twelve years. Through my work, I have tried my best to promote the rich tribal culture. I have researched, worked and sung with the remotest of tribes here. The people of Northeast are my family. Popularity is one thing, but the love and affection I have received here is the only thing that keeps me from shifting base to Mumbai permanently.
And what about Bengal?
Bengal is my second home. I have a thriving career in Tollywood. I think, after Bhupen Hazarika, I am the one singer from Assam who has received so much love from Bengal.

What are your future projects for Bengal.
I am coming up with a new album before Durga Puja. It will be a combination of some old songs, that have already been released in Assam and a couple of new compositions. Its called Rock. Apart from that, I keep singing for Tollywood projects frequently. krish3 and other big movies will be most awaited and he will be back with new powerful songs. As the name zubeen garg always perform at his best because he is the lord of  music.....

MITTU CHANDILYA A NEW CEO OF AIR ASIA INDIAN ARM WITH NEW CHALLENGES

Appointing an Indian CEO was crucial for the company to start India operations.
Mittu Chandilya, a Singapore-based consultant of Indian origin, has been appointed as chief executive officer of AirAsia India, the Indian arm of Malaysia's low-cost carrier AirAsia. The announcement was made on Wednesday by Group CEO Tony Fernandes on a social media website.
"I am pleased to announce the board of AirAsia India has appointed Mittu Chandilya as CEO of AirAsia India," Fernandes tweeted.
Chandilya’s previous stint was at Egon Zehnder International, an advisory firm with more than 420 consultants spread across 40 countries. It is an executive search firm for areas, including life sciences, consumer goods and chemicals. Chandilya worked as the Head of Services Practices for Asia Pacific in Egon.
Another tweet by Fernandes said, "Mittu is coming home to change Indian travel and make it affordable for all Indians to fly".
In March this year, the Malaysian budget carrier received the green signal from Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) for its proposed domestic budget airline in India, thereby making it the first foreign airline to operate a domestic carrier after the government liberalised the aviation sector last September.
Fernandes had then tweeted about the company appointing a new CEO without providing specific details. “I have selected our CEO for AirAsia India. Very smart boy from the south, Madras. An amazing CV. Will impress all.”
Chandilya's Indian origin would also make it easier for the AirAsia-Tata Sons joint venture airline to get clearances from the aviation ministry and keeping the regulatory guidelines in compliance, say market experts.
AirAsia was established in 2001 and now has a route network that spans across over 20 countries. AirAsia is a low-cost airline and has associate companies like AirAsia X, Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia, Philippines' AirAsia Inc and AirAsia Japan.
Tata Group, which had launched Air India before its nationalisation, is making a comeback to the domestic aviation sector by forming a joint venture with Fernandes-led AirAsia, Asia’s biggest budget carrier, and private investor Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace Pvt. Ltd.
The move comes after the Indian government eased Foreign Direct Investment in airlines in September last year, allowing foreign airlines to pick up to 49 per cent stake.

BIOGRAPHY OF A MUSICIAN WHICH MOTIVATES TO DO THE BEST IN LIFE

Zubeen Garg. is a singer and composer from Assam, India, in the Bollywood and Assamese music scene. He plays dhols, dotora, mandolin, keyboard and various percussion instruments.

Background
Zubeen Garg hails from Jorhat, a small city in upper Assam. His birth name is Jibon Barthakur. He was named after the great composer Zubin Mehta and used their Gautra as his surname. Zubeen was born to Mr. Mohini. M. Borthakur, a famous lyricist and poet (who uses the pseudo name Kapil Thakur), and late Mrs. Ily Borthakur. However, because of transliteration discrepancies he is sometimes credited as Zubin Garg, Jubin Garg, or simply Zubin, Zubeen or Jubin and various combinations of the above mentioned.

The Borthakur family had its roots in Janji, Sivasagar. Mr. Borthakur was a magistrate and moved often during his early years along with little Zubeen. Zubeen's mother was a good dancer, an actress and a singer. However, she never turned these talents into a professional career. Instead, she decided to teach them to little Zubeen at home. Zubeen considers his mother to be his first guru and mentor. Zubeen's younger sister Jonkie Borthakur was a well known singer and actress who died in a car accident in 2002. Zubeen's other sister Palme, is a good bharat natyam dancer, presently living in Guwahati.

Feeling indebted to his loyal fans from Assam, Zubeen became involved in various charitable organizations dealing with AIDS and brain cancer. He plans on opening an institute in the near future to help those that are mentally challenged as well.

Zubeen lives with his wife Garima, a fashion designer, in his flat, which is a part of his music studio called Sound & Silence, located at 165/1, Sher-E-Punjab. Andheri East. Mumbai, India.

He is also working on a script for a Hindi film which was announced in August 2006. Zubeen has opened a chain of beauty parlors across the northeast India called Zubeen's Veda.
Entering the music scene

Zubeen started learning tabla from Guru Robin Banarjee, and then continued learning Assamese folk music form Guru Romoni Rai. He attended J.B. College in Jorhat, and then moved to B. Barooah College, where he was pursuing Bachelor of Science after his family moved permanently to Guwahati. But he did not complete his baccalaureate studies as he jumped in to the music scene.

Zubeen's life had a turning point when he received the gold medal for his western solo performance in the youth festival held in 1992. The World's Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Retail in 2013 ranking

1_Nike

For a pair of revolutionary new products and a culture of true believers. Its two biggest innovations in 2012, Flyknit and the FuelBand, were evidence that the company is ever-willing to redefine itself and its manufacturing process. Bringing in $24 billion in revenue--up 60% since 2006 when CEO Mark Parker took over--doesn't hurt either.

2_Burberry

For sending brick and mortar stores into the next century. Its London flagship store was remodeled and opened in September 2012, and now features elaborate visual effects. For example, RFID chips on certain items transmit a radio signal to the nearest LCD screen. When the customer brings the item near the screen, information about the item details is displayed.

3_7-Eleven

For localizing and compartmentalizing its stores. The brand's partnership with Amazon allows users to have small packages delivered to stores rather than their homes. In 2012, that partnership expanded to five areas globally: New York, Seattle, DC, Silicon Valley and London.

4_Sephora

For offering a mix-and-match solution for your skin. Sephora's Pantone Color IQ rolled out in select cities last year, aiming to ease the process of picking a foundation. Pantone's color detection technology, used in graphic design to match colors, was used to develop the handheld gadget that holds more than 1,000 SKUs and can determine an exact match to the customer's skin tone.

5_Everlane

For offering members high-quality goods without the middleman. When the online clothier launched in November 2011, it began with a small run of t-shirts. But in just over a year, it has expanded its selection to include scarves, sweatshirts, ties, oxfords, and other items. By using a limited batch model, it keeps demand high. In 2012, the site grew to nearly half a million users.

6_Black Milk Clothing

For crowdsourcing an online shopping experience. The Australian company known for leggings lets its customers contribute the product photography. By tagging a photo on Twitter or Instagram, photos are automatically added to the site.

7_Svpply

For being your personalized wish list. The social shopping, which was acquired by eBay last year, predicts what products a user will like based on their social media feeds. It then lets users store those items in an online closet, or simply buy them. Shops are eager to join: More than 3,000 items per day are pulled from 75,000 stores, and Svpply now has more than a million products in its repertoire.

8_Crate & Barrel

For letting you build your living room without using a hammer. With Crate & Barrel's 3D Room Designer, launched in mid-2012, users can upload pictures of their own room to see how the desired couch, table or lamp will look. By snapping a picture and sending it to your local store, customers can work with a store associate to browse the more than 2,000 items and pick the perfect pieces for their room.

9_MakerBot

For bringing an industrial tool to the average Joe. Its 3D printers let serious (or amateur) craftsmen create and share new products, free from the once-prohibitive cost of manufacturing. MAKER BOT released the Replicator 2 last year, after securing $10 million in funding.

10_Uniqlo

For making fast fashion actually fashionable. The company publicly announced its goal of opening 200 stores in the United States--in every major market--and raising profits to more than $10 billion by 2020. With brand collaborations with the likes of Jil Sander and Rei Kawakubo, the clothing giant keeps prices low and fashion high.

ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK WILL GIVE INDIA MORE THAN 6 BILLION IN UPCOMING YEARS

India will get loan of about $ 6 billion from the Asian development bank (ADB) over the next three years for various projects including those in energy and education sectors.

"Our idea is ADB will maintain its lending level to India, approximately $ 2 billion over next three years.

"We are now working on the country partnership strategy and we are planning to maintain the level of lending to India," ADB PRESIDENT said at the concluding day of the 46th annual meeting of the  funding agency here.

India is the biggest borrower of ADB as the Manila-based multilateral lender had extended $ 2.4 billion loan to it in 2012 across sectors like transport, energy, commerce and industry, trade, finance, agriculture and natural resource management and it will like to continue extending assistance in these sectors.

Nakao said that the bank will continue to lend $ 10 billion a year across the member-nations despite generating lower return from investments.
